J Wood and Company Auctioneers
Jerry and his wife, Dee started J. Wood & Co Auctioneers in 1980 selling motorcycle shops, as well as machine shops and factories. In the 1980s the vintage motorcycle market started to take off. You could find a Triumph Bonneville in one place for $500 and another advertised for $5,000. In 1988 they came up with the idea of running a motorcycle consignment auction during Daytona Bike Week. Their goal was to offer the bikes in a nationally advertised auction with no false bidding to determine the true market value for vintage motorcycles.
